As we were planning our Lent season, we wanted to put a lot of our focus on Easter Sunday and how grand of a celebration it is. The lily is a representation of joy and peace which is what Jesus stands for. It is a flower that represents Jesus and for that reason churches set out lilies during easter and the Lent season to remember Jesus in a physical way.
As we were talking about buying flowers, we didn't think that would be enough of a celebration and it wouldn't offer up our gifts in the proper way. I knew that we had hands to help so I designed a fast and easy way to make flowers of two sizes and the two locations we were in. I wanted to hang them on the walls and put lights under them so that we could paint lights on them like an artist with their paintbrush.
It took about 2 weeks to accomplish with about 12 volunteers, taking about 1,800 sheets of tissue paper and 500 sheets of poster board. To hang them on the fence like material we used the bulbs made of pipe cleaners to attach them in the back of the flower.
